Feeling in Public is a Radical Act
After receiving the Public Art Learning Fund grant through the NEFA in 2021, I began exploring the intersections of public space, public art, and care. I was drawn to the conversation about Monuments and Memorials and wanted to further my interest while drawing on concepts of healing justice.
The project looks at the intersections of public space, public art, acts of care, and grieving in public, and investigates how what we put into public spaces can create care or harm.
This work is rooted in my belief that community grieving leads to community healing, and often community action. This has become the umbrella for a series of works called “Feeling in Public is a Radical Act”.
