2021
At the Root worked with a coordinating committee to provide artistic and organizational support for the completion of the Poetry Walk project at 311 North Ave.

"The Poetry Walk at 311 North Avenue is a window into a new way to engage with public space in Burlington. The Poetry Walk aspires to transcend a long history of harmful actions. Now in public hands, the park embracing a management plan that centers on healing and reciprocation. It will be, in perpetuity, a space for learning, sharing, and reflection."
When developing the inaugural Poetry Walk experience at Kieslich park Jen helped the City ensure community was being held by the process. Through Jen's commitment to honesty, generative values were encouraged to emerge. Another key aspect to Jen's contributions to the Poetry walk was her experience and perspective as an artist. This part of her experience and skills helped ensure that the standards and methods created by the steering committee encouraged poets and artists to contribute intuitively and equitably. ~Dan Cahill. Land Steward. City of Burlington. Department of Parks Recreation.

Jen brings a unique combination of valuable qualities to her work. She is creative & artistic, while also having great project management skills, such as good organizational and communication skills. I found her ability to troubleshoot unexpected challenges that arose within my project helpful and encouraging.  I especially appreciated her enthusiastic spirit which helped me during the more challenging tasks of my project.

2022

At the Root worked with artist/printmaker Kenzie Hines to formalize her art making business, KenzieHinesPrintworks, by providing resources and support in her process.

Jen really helped me take the initial big steps forward with my art. With deep roots in the community, Jen's knowledge of local resources is second to none. Along with being knowledgeable and having experience building her own business, she was so genuinely excited about my work, which really helped me believe in myself. To anyone looking to expand their art business or looking for local resources in the arts, talk to Jen Berger!
