Rooting Down- 2021

Although it's way more fun to be together and talk Over Dinner, the conversations we have are still so important. This series is pre-recorded dinners I have had with friends, about how art, justice, healing, community & creativity are important to creating communities of care as we transition away from the pandemic. You can watch them at home, and discuss, Over Dinner. Please share any thoughts or feedback on the contact page or via email. Enjoy!

Taking Stock and "Resetting the Table" for your business

This 'Over Dinner' is an opportunity for small business owners to come together and share what has been happening in their businesses since March. We will discuss the ups and downs of our individual experiences, and put our resources together to develop tools to support as we move into the next phases, moving into 2021.

Bring your dinner to the virtual 'table'. This 'Over Dinner' conversation will be facilitated by Lisa Wood from the Women's Small Business Program at Mercy Connections. Join us for this opportunity to come together, find connection, talk freely, ask questions, identify needs, share resources, and get support as we make decisions about what we want to keep, and what to let go of as we move forward into 2021.

Tickets available: https://sevendaystickets.com/.../taking-stock-and...
Treat yourself for getting through November, and purchase
a ticket by November 30th for $15.

“Just Ask - A frank discussion on racial equity within the small business community”

Picture
July 16th, 23rd, 30th
6:00 PM-8:00PM
This is part of At the Root’s and Mercy Connection’s collaboration
‘ Just Ask -Over Dinner Series’.

This dinner series is for small business owners who want to understand themselves, their business, and their community more deeply through the lens of race and racial inequity.

Led by facilitator *Tanaisha Coleman of TC Consulting, and co-facilitated by jen berger. This is not a workshop, but we will do some exercises. Be prepared to do some reflective writing.

Bring your own dinner. We encourage you to create a meal with local ingredients and share your culinary creation ideas with other participants, and if you want to show up with a bag of chips, that is also fine!

Visions of Home; Online Art Workshop

Wednesday May 13th
4:30 PM-6PM
We've always had an evolving relationship with home. In the last few months, our individual and global relationship to home has taken on another layer. The coronavirus crisis has illuminated holes and cracks in our systems, and the need for everyone to have a safe home is greater than ever. There are laws preventing discrimination and inequality in housing, and yet decent, affordable shelter remains out of reach for many people.

Join us for an online workshop to create a piece of art, of your choice, about home. At the Root's Jen Berger will lead a creative process to help you hone in on what is on your mind about home right now. All you need is your own supplies: paper, pen or pencil, crayon, paint, fabric, collage, food, toys for a permanent or temporary sculpture, or whatever you have on hand. You'll have an opportunity to share your piece at the end of the workshop and discuss your creation of home.

The workshop is part of the extended April Fair Housing Month activities coordinated by the Fair Housing Project of CVOOE and ONE Arts. Learn more at www.fairhousingmonthvt.org

Resistance Starts at Home
Protests and creative actions often employ signs, banners, and flyers to amplify a message. We have the privilege of seeing the final product, but how does resistance art get made? At the Root’s printmaking workshops are being reconstructed to provide an opportunity to guide you through finding meaning and messaging in this collectively difficult moment. Bring your own art supplies; pen & paper works fine! Other options could include pictures for collage, fabric for a banner or patch, paints, linoleum to cut and print, or whatever materials you want to work in. We will talk about the what, and the how to make your image.

Fee: $15. 1 hour of guided instruction. Tickets are available through SevenDays Tickets. You will receive an email with the Zoom link and password the day of the event. You will receive an invitation to a Google Hangouts meeting.
